Bergamo, Galleria di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea
As part of a cultural and political project set up by the Bergamo councillor responsible for culture, together with the historical Carrara Academy, the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art was created in 1992. The gallery historically and culturally completed the academy's already ongoing activities. It was established thanks to the contribution of Credito Bergamasco, which allowed the former Monastero delle Dimesse e delle Servite, where the gallery holds its exhibitions, to be restored and renovated.
It it is a new centre of reference for Italian and European figurative art, as the figurative expression of the twentieth century, from historical moments to present day experimentation, is put on display every now and again in the rooms of the former convent.
