Bergamo, Parco del Serio

This park was founded thanks to a regional law from 1985. It covers 7,750 hectares along River Serio from Seriate up to the point where theriver joins River Adda. It is managed by a consortium, which includes the Provinces and Municipalities of this area. This park was created in order to protect the river and the surroundingterritory. Many castles and fortified villages such as Cologno or Martinengo werebuilt near the river. There are also lots of farmhouses because the agricultural activity is still very important.
