Bergamo, Sentierone
Parallel to Matteotti Square, there is a wide avenue lined with trees called the "Sentierone" (Big Path): made by the merchants of Bergamo in 1620, it includes on one side a stone paved porch. At the end of the avenue arises the Baroque façade of the XVII century Church of S. Bartholomew. Not far from here, there is the monument dedicated to the composer Gaetano Donizetti, born in Bergamo. Next to it, the homonymous XIX century theatre. On the opposite side the itinerary crosses via XX Settembre, heart of the business centre.
