Trescore Balneario, Frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto

The big fresco covers the entire left wall of the small oratory, which is a former chapel of Villa Suardi, and has the big image of Christ in the middle, inspired to the evangelical verse "I am the vine, you are the branches": long tendrils, including busts of saints, start from His fingers and run along, among dancing puttos, over the pitches of the ceiling.
The martyrdom of Saint Barbara, who was persecuted by her father, is narrated in a series of scenes reminding us of the devotional paths of the Sacri Monti (i.e. Sacred Mountains) and enabling Lotto to portray a colourful picture of contemporary life.
