Castelleone, Santuary of Santa Maria di Bressanoro

Commissioned by Duchess Maria Visconti as a promise in return of her daughter's healing, this Sanctuary was built on a place that has always had a remarkable importance in the religious tradition of this land. Its imposing structure mixes the Franciscan tradition and popular Marian devotion. The peculiarity of this Sanctuary is its plan, which, in fact, is based on a Greek cross at the four extremities of which four cupolas have been built.
