Isola Dovarese, Parish church of Saint Nicholas

The Parish church of Isola Dovarese, dedicated to St Nicholas, is a real trove of artistic treasures. The interior, characterised by three naves, culminates in a presbytery from which the dome rises. Particularly notable is the Cappella dell’Immacolata, with the statue of the Virgin surrounded by a wooden ancona.
Also notable are the canvases and the panel paintings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, works by great masters, among which it is worth mentioning "San Francesco" by Ermenegildo Lodi – a wonrdful panel painting depicting the Annunciation by Gian Francesco Bembo, “Ecce Homo” by Bernardino Campi and the “Madonna in Gloria tra i Santi Domenico e Pio” by Procaccini.
Inside the church you can also see, in addition to the statue of the Virgin Mary, four wooden statues, among which an ancient crucifix.
