Trezzo sull'Adda, Northern Adda Park
This park was founded thanks to a 1987 regional law and it covers 5580 hectares along River Adda from Lecco to Casirate d'Adda. It is managed bya consortium, which was created by the Provinces of Bergamo, Milan and Lecco together with all the municipalities lying within the park area.
Some parts of the river bed are quite interesting: the stretch from Paderno to Trezzo, where the erosion has created steep vertical walls(Ceppo) and the wide wet area of the Brivio marsh (Torre island and the large Serraglio island). The flora of the park includes thick woods, which stretch along long tracts of the banks to the copse, the underwood and the marsh areas, where water-lilies, wild yellow lilies, lilies of the valley and many different kinds of speedwells grow.
The villas and farmhouses Trezzo and Cassano castles, Melzi villa in Vaprio, Assunta farmhouse in Paderno) lying along the bank are very fineexamples of Lombard architecture, even if the most famous buildings are the public ones, which are still the corner stones of industrial archaeology: Trezzo power station, Paderno bridge, the dams and the canals.
Within the park there are many routes, which can be followed on foot, by bicycle or by car.
