Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, Castello visconteo Morando Bolognini
In the Lombard environment of the 14th century, the castle represents an important example of mediaeval architecture.
Bernabò Visconti gave the imposing castle, of mediaeval architecture, to his wife Regina della Scala (1379) who had the Torre Mastra built. Passed on through inheritance to Francesco Sforza, it was donated to the Bolognini Attendolo. After sieges and sackings by French and Spanish forces, the fortifications underwent numerous modifications, to become a military headquarters and then a centre for working silk, until it was inherited by Count Gian Giacomo Morando (1865), who restored it to its original appearance. In 1933 the castle was given to the Institute for Cereal Growing of Rome to serve as a museum.
It currently houses the Museums of Bread and of the History of Agriculture and a Historical Museum rich in furniture, arms, paintings and archaeological remains.
