Le Bine Regional Reserve
Le Bine Regional Reserve is made by an abandoned meander of River Oglio and is a typical marsh area of the Padana plain.
The moist area is horse-shoe shaped and is fed by some subterranean springs. In this area you will find a wide cane thicket. The fields situated in the middle of the preserve were once cultivated and have now been transformed into poplar-woods.
Le Bine regional Reserve is inhabited mainly by birds (ducks, herons, birds of prey and sparrows) but also by hares, weasels and badgers. The presence of reptiles and amphibians belonging to rare species is very important. The frog of Lataste is the symbol of the reserve.
Besides thick cane thickets there are different types of floating plants. There are also willows, alders, poplars, elms, ash trees in the drier stretches.
