Mantova, Museum of Palazzo d'Arco
This is the historical Mantua dwelling of the d'Arco Counts, which has remained the same since 1973, when countess Giovanna d'Arco, marquise of Guidi di Bagno and last heir of the noble family from Trenton decided to turn her dwelling into a museum and thus allowed visitors to admire an extraordinarily rich cultural heritage.
Worth mentioning are the following:
- The palace, which is a remarkable example of neoclassical architecture (1782-1792).
- The original furnishing, including furniture, chandeliers, pottery, weapons and musical instruments.
- The valuable art gallery, with paintings by Niccolò da Verona, Luini, Magnasco, Pourbus, Van Dyck and a magnificent cycle by Giuseppe Bazzani.
- The library, which is rich in ancient books. - The peculiar kitchen with its set of copper forms.
- The Room of the Zodiac, which was entirely frescoed in 1520 by Giovanni Maria Falconetto.
- The exedra and the pleasant garden.
