Mantova, Piazza Sordello
Ancient heart of Mantua’s artistic and political life, this square is exceptionally big (measuring 150x60m) and boasts some of the town’s monumental buildings, such as the Palazzo Ducale (Palazzo del Capitano and Magnus Domus), the Palazzo Acerbi, surmounted by the Gabbia tower, the Palazzo Bonacolsi (now Castiglioni), the Palazzo Vescovile (Bishop’s palace, also called Palazzo Bianchi after the name of the family that built it in the 18th century), and the Cathedral.
