Sabbioneta

The “ideal town” built according to the wishes of Vespasiano Gonzaga. It is almost an artificial town in its classical perfection, unsurfaced within the hexagonal ring of its walls which enclose priceless architectural treasures such as the Palazzo Ducale or the Teatro Olimpico. There is also the compact profile of Castellaro Lagusello, a small, delightful village that has managed to keep the town walls intact and which from a distance seems like a stone box set on the hillside.
