MappaMilano, Pirelli Skyscraper

The Pirelli Skyscraper was erected in the 20th century, between 1955 and 1959 by a group of architects and engineers (among whom the names of Giò Ponti and Giuseppe Valtolina). 125 m. tall, it is the highest building in the city exceeding even the statue of the Madonnina of the Duomo up to then the highest point of Milan. The building, with a rectangular plan, narrows on two sides and is characterised by a remarkable stylistic elegance in spite of its powerful structure.
Initially used as the administrative headquarters of Pirelli, it has, since 1978, accommodated the offices of the Lombardy Region.
