Agliate, Basilica dei SS. Pietro e Paolo
The SS.Pietro e Paolo Basilica in Agliate, with its nine sides baptistery nearby, is one of the most ancient example of the romanesque Age art in Lombardyc; it probably dates back to the first half of the XIth Century. The most characteristic element is the herringbone stonework with ahlars; a careful eye can clearly see that previous building stocks have been employed, quite likely dating back to the late roman epoque.
Inside, the church with nave and two aisles, has a woodden roofing and reveals, under the floor, a crypt and parts of more ancient buildings of the Vth century.
