Desio, Villa Tittoni Traversi
This is without doubt one of Brianza’s most monumental and important houses. Today it belongs to the Municipality and accommodates the public library and other public services. In the 17th century it was owned by the Cusani family, who gave the commission to enlarge and modernise the building to Piermarini. The house was subsequently worked on by Pelagio Palagi, while Antonio Villoresi directed the creation of the neighbouring park. Palagi also designed the impressive neogothic tower, which is in private hands today, and the fine wrought-iron gateway which bounds the main courtyard on the north side of the villa. The south façade is more varied and overlooks the large park, which has been reclaimed in part after the damage incurred in the postwar period.
