Lesmo, Villa Rapazzini

MappaLesmo, Villa Rapazzini

The large park of Villa Rapazzini (120 Milanese perches) contains many centuries-old plants. The English pattern of the garden remind of that of the nearby park of the Royal Villa of Monza, and often the fauna (birds, dormice, cicadas) moves from one park to the other. It is possible to see century-old examples of oaks, common beeches, elms, conifers, hors chestnuts, magnolias, Caucasian walnut, a wood of bamboo trees and bushes of scented essences.
Inside the park are the old caves restored in 1992 with crystal-clear spring waters which channel under a protection made of blocks surmounted by the bust of a two-faced woman; from here, the waters fell forming a continuous fountain, covered with bright green musk, and then flowed to a circular pool and finally to a watercourse called Ghiringhella, which at that time flowed to Agrate. The villa Simonetta, now Rapazzini, dates back to the end of 1600 and is a restored hunting lodge included in the Royal Reserved Hunting Area.
