MappaSondrio, Palazzo Martinengo

Palazzo Martinengo in Sondrio was built approximately between 1602 and 1630. In 1646, the Salis and Parravicini families sold the building, which was then used as the seat of the vicar of Valle. In the years between 1759 and 1773, and then in 1834, the floods of the Mallero River led to other interventions, which modified the structure of the building. From 1859 to 1935 the building was used as the seat of the Royal Prefecture. It has an irregular polygonal plan and continuous brickwork in plastered stones. The front part is made up of a central body, which is developed on four levels, which is slightly projecting compared to the side wings. The portal is covered by a portico with a barrel vault, with an overhanging balcony with balustrade. The pavilion roof is covered with slates.
