Torre di Santa Maria

A Valmalenco locality, occupying part of the Val Torreggio, Torre di Santa Maria is a summer tourist resort enjoyinga panoramic position; its favourable geographic location also makes ita good departure point for alpine excursions and climbs, for exampletowards the Bosio Refuge, at more than 2000 metres above sea level, or the Alta Via della Valmalenco route, an evocative itineraryexploring the natural and artistic beauties of the valley. The Parish Church of Santa Maria, in the village, provides anothersubject of interest: consecrated in 1415, rebuilt in 1620 and enlarged in 1919, it hosts a canvas depicting the "Adoration of the Child", attributed to Fermo Stella. Torre di Santa Maria, in addition to its delightful location with respect to some of the treasures in its valley, is also easy toreach from its administrative centre: the route from the village to Sondriois well served by Valmalenco buses.
