Sondrio, The Valtellina Museum of History and Art - Sassi de Lavizzari Palace
The Valtellina History and Art Museum is located within Palazzo Sassi de’Lavizzari (seventeenth century), in Sondrio’s city centre. The Museum collection contains archaeological examples from prehistoric and Roman periods and works of art providing an overview of the history of art in Valtellina from Medieval times to the last century.
The collection which forms part of the Ligari Fund is particularly interesting comprising of paintings, sketches, drawings, prints, documents, plaster figures and tools belonging to the famous local family of artists in the seventeenth to eighteenth centuries.
Next to the exhibition space there are various educational activities on offer and further advice for schools, visitors and researchers who need assistance.
