Castiglione Olona, Baptistery
The new church called "Collegiata" was consecrated on March 25th 1425. Its interior features the "Storie della Vergine" (Stories of the Virgin") by Masolino. A famous series of frescoes by the Tuscan maestro ("Storie del Battista" or "Stories of the Baptist") can be found in the Baptistry (XV century). The Baptistery is small, but preserves a beautiful baptismal font of Tuscan School with four little angels to sustain it. Here Masolino applied Leon Battista Alberti's theory: all the portraits had to depict famous people in history, among which Masolino included the same Alberti near a window of the Baptistery.
