Ranco is a small bathing resort situated on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, in the province of Varese. Its proximity to the lake, as well as its favourable climatic conditions, renders this village very suitable for pleasure stays: the presence of a marina can be useful in order to observe "the lake from the lake" having a boat trip. Whereas among the buildings worth visiting in the village, we mention of course the Ogliari Museum. Here the passion and obstinacy of a distinguished gentleman, Professor Ogliari allowed the setting-up of an open-air museum completely dedicated to Italian transport history. Set in the green park of Villa Fantasia, this museum offers a "well-reasoned route" which leads from the use of horses as a vehicle until the most modern means of transport. In Ranco finally, good cuisine lovers can enjoy local dishes, enriched by the taste of lake fish.
