Varese, Villa Mirabello
The villa is of the 17th century, but it was renovated in the 18th century and redecorated in the English style, in 1843. It was also owned by the wealthy family Litta-Modigliani.
This elegant mansion, in an airy English style, is surrounded by a charming garden rich in rare and precious plant species. The Oratory by Veratti, built in 1767, is particularly interesting. The villa accommodates the municipal museums, in which discoveries from pre-historic times recovered in the area around Varese are kept, together with sections of interest from both history and nature. The picture gallery is also worth a visit for the valuable works of Lombard painting.
